A huge park of 11 acres in a geographically privileged position welcomes the guests. The estate is located in the most charming of the Ischia Island called Punta Caruso, surrounded by the maquis and the sheer above the sea. A path dug in the rocks flanks a wood of holm oaks, pines, olive trees and lavender bushes. The greatest attraction of the park, however, is the botanical collection of succulents of the greatest value and the utmost beauty which includes Arizona cactuses and Cuban agaves "giardino esotico".
The place, surrounded by lights and colors and sheltered from the winds, is particularly beautiful in winter. On the verdant cape, a sanctuary of loneliness and silence, are some villas which hosted sensitive souls and artists, such as Sir William Walton, Enrico d'Assia, son of Mafalda di Savoia and the director Luchino Visconti, just to mention a few of our most famous neighbors. Many others, however, have come from all over the world to spend days of dream and poetry in our House.
Winter does not seem to exist on the Island. Thanks to its thermal springs Ischia has only three seasons: spring, from March to June; summer from July to October; autumn, from November to February. You will be therefore able to pamper your body and soul, either at the renowned spas with baths, massages, saunas and special diets, or with long walks in the wild nature or in places of cultural interest. The Island offers superb food and excellent wine and every kind of sport facilities.
You can relax on our Biodesign natural pool heated with idromassage or with thermal treatments, however, are real medical therapies, which, practiced with professionalism and competence in the many spas of the island, are carried out with scrupulous and preventive medical supervision.
Because of its complex volcanic origin, the Island of Ischia has a hydro-thermal heritage among the richest and most interesting in the world. This wealth has made Ischia famous since ancient times: Strabone and Plinio have often mentioned in their writings the therapeutic power of the island's waters. The renown of the baths has undergone alternate events over the centuries: known at the time of Magna Graecia, they were rediscovered by the Romans of the imperial era and, after centuries of oblivion, they were studied by the doctor Jasolino at the end of the 1600s.
The Ancient Romans named the Ischia Iland "ENARIA", meaning "Land of Wine".
The mild Mediterranean climate, the volcanic soil, the tufa stone and the sea breeze have always favoured the production of high quality wines in Ischia, which has led to them being exported throughout the world, representing one of the Island’s most important economic resources since ancient times.
The most famous Ischian grapes used in the production of wine are the “Biancolella” and the “Forastera” for white wines, and the “Guarnaccia” and the “Piedirosso” (translates as “redfoot” but known in local dialect as “Per’ e Palumm” or “La Zampa di Piccione” which translates as “The Pigeon’s Foot” due to its appearance for red wines.
There are seven types of wine produced in Ischia that carry the “Denominazione di Origine Controllata” (DOC) label: Ischia Bianco, Ischia Bianco Spumante, Ischia Rosso, Biancolella, Forastera, Per’ e Palummo and Per’ e Palummo Passito.
So whether you're visiting Ischia to enjoy the sunny weather, the beaches, the thermal spas or many of the other activities you can enjoy with a visit here, why not try some of the fantastic wines you've just read about so that at least in some small way your holiday can continue when you return home.
